CODE OF CONDUCT

 

At TLE Christian Academy LEARNING is our main focus.  Although that means high standards for teachers, parent involvement, student commitment etc. let's face it student are children or at the most young adults.  We can not expect them to behave exemplary every minute of the day every day of the school year.  However, we cannot allow behavior that distracts other students from their learning experience.  Where to draw the line is sometimes a very difficult questions, but we have to rely on each teacher's integrity and good judgement while balancing between open constructive discussion and too much talking/distractions. 


Below you will find examples of behavior that in no way is conclusive, it is reviewed regularly by our board, staff, parents and of course students.  We know that the right supportive environment can make a world of difference.


CATEGORY A OFFENSES

  • class room disturbance - excessive talking
  • unexcused tardies
  • running in hallways
  • being unprepared for class - lacking writing utensils, paper, assignments, books etc
  • throwing paper, pens etc
  • failure to clean up assigned area at the end of the day
  • leaving a mess around a desk or locker
  • use of school telelphone without permission
  • passing notes in class
  • horseplay


CATEGORY B OFFENSES
  • major dress violation - not wearing uniform, dress code violation
  • verbal or physical harassment of others
  • unexcused absence - skipping class
  • writing on desks or other damage to school property
  • public display of affection
  • inappropriate touching or gestures
  • disobedience or disrespect towards a teacher, administrator, table leader, or guest
  • bringing inappropriate printed material

CATEGORY C OFFENSES
  • skipping school without parental knowledge or approval
  • dishonesty, including cheating, copying another person's work
  • open defiance of authority
  • physical or verbal fighting or provoking the same
  • sexual harassment, intimidation or impropriety
  • use of spoken or written profane, vulgar or obscene language and or gestures
  • endangering public safety
  • actions or attitudes that are spiritually detrimental to the school
  • stealing
  • vandalism/destruction of school property

CATEGORY D OFFENSES
Any action that is seriously harms the name of our saviour Christ and/or TLE Christian Academy and thus to its nature is highly wicked.  Actions that fall under this category include but are not limited to the following:
  • possession, distribution, selling or use of alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs
  • abuse of prescription or over the counter medicines
  • possession of weapon, fireworks, or dangerous articles

CONSEQUENCES

CATEGORY A & B OFFENSES

  • demerits:  category A 1 demerit;  category B 2 demerits
  • notification will be emailed to the guardians
  • demerits accumulate during each block and begin anew for each new block
  • three = 3 detentions in any block result in
    • student - parent - teacher conference
    • ineligibility to earn a diamond award for that block

CATEGORY C OFFENSES

  • immediate student - parent - teacher conference
    • that may result in administrative probation and out-of-school suspension
    • student will loose one diamond and is made illegible to earn a diamond award that semester
  • with two offenses will be re-evaluated to be admitted to next semester / school year
  • with the third offense during a school year will result in immediate expulsion

CATEGORY D OFFENSES

  • immediate student - parent - teacher conference and at minimum will result in administrative probation and out-of-school suspension, and the loss of three diamonds and illegibility to win a diamond award that school year
