Describing a typical TLE student is a little like trying to describe a typical sunrise over the Grand Canyon. So many wonderful images flood your mind and so much diversity can be seen, it is almost impossible to describe. Some TLE students are very bold, others are quite shy. Some students have come here because they were not challenged in other schools; others because they felt lost and overwhelmed. Most were looking to be loved and appreciated for who they are; to share their love with others and to pursue their dreams. Many have come because they have a strong commitment to God's Kingdom and want to find their place in it. The younger students are escaping stress, the older ones are escaping cliques.
If your son is the star of the football team, TLE is not a good fit. If your daughter favorite reading is Teen Magazine, TLE is not a good fit. If your child rolls his or her eyes at the sight of a ten year old, TLE is not a good fit. If your eleven year old insists on calling you by your first name, he or she is not a good candidate.
If your child wants to be a missionary, lawyer, business leader, or the president, this is an excellent environment to grow in. If your daughter enjoys being with her mom's friends as much as her own friends, she will probably like it here. If your child seems to need to talk through his homework, he will like it here. Students diagnosed as ADD often do very well here because the pace is fast enough for them, while at the same time offering a safe, predictable environment. Students who excel in a particular academic area will likely thrive here too. Of course, students with a desire to graduate with a competitive edge will find their haven at TLE.
You can let your child try us on for a day. Give me a call; I would love to set it up for you.
Blessings,
Ellen
