Meet Our Staff

 Meet Our Rector:  Mr. John

I grew up in Sweden and immigrated to the United States in 1985.  Apart from the last seven years I was in business. As a partner for a market research company, my special interest was in coaching company executives to be more customer oriented - establishing the relationship between employee environment, customer experience, and financial results.  Sears, McDonald's and AAFES were some of the companies in the US who adopted the philosophy. I have to confess, I am a metric kind of guy. At TLE we measure more than academic grades.
We measure behavior, organizational growth, and brain development.

Although my high school experience was not the very best , I have always studied while working.  In the US it resulted in a BA in Business Management and an ABD (everything but writing the final PhD dissertation) at the University of Michigan, Department of Urban and Regional Planning.  My research topic was "Sense of Community in Small Towns."

When I met Ellen she brought me back to my "root beliefs" - I got saved and my life has become the most awesome life I could ever wish for.  I find it fascinating to serve a God who has a plan for each of us.  For example, moving TLE to Kennesaw, enabled me to fulfill my passion and utilize my past experiences.

Meet Our Awesome Curriculum Director Main Teacher: Mrs. Ellen

My teaching and school establishing career began by necessity; not one of my three children was the traditional learning style student.  I began as a homeschooling mom. At that time home education was a new phenomenon, but I saw no better solution.  My oldest son could not sit still to learn, so I put together a very kinesthetic game filled curriculum.  My second son took learning much more seriously.  At six he came to me and said:  "Mom I do not think this is school."   I had to take renewed look at what his needs were and add more straight to the point, research and fact based exercises.   The picture is not complete without my daughter. Her passion for reading, brought great literature to our educational experience. The end result was that through my children God established my calling, teaching the way children learn.

During this whole time I became a brain addict; trying to understand the whys and hows of how children learn along with mt other passion, seeing God's hand in history.  One thing led to another.  I started church schools, I was Christian counselor for home school moms, the curricula adviser for homeschool.com, and a national speaker in home school conventions all over the country. I wrote the Life in America series; each volume integrates all learning styles, all modalities, all age levels and eight different subjects. All eight volumes, covering creation to the most recent, which goes to current times are now complete.  We are using the eighth volume at TLE this year. Understanding history, government and economics makes a person a good citizen. The Life in America Series was awarded the best curriculum of its kind, and serves as the base of TLE's whole brain curricula.

Meet Our Awesome Middle School Teacher and More:  Mrs. Suzie Mitchell

TLE allows students, who show ability, to take on additional roles. Suzie helped to teach Latin and math before graduating from TLE.

"Participating at TLE as a student and a Teaching Assistant helped me to decide to pursue a teaching career. I attended TLE from 2005 to 2007, when I graduated. I currently attend Kennesaw State University as a junior in the Early Childhood Education program. My time at TLE allowed me to see how a variety of students and learning styles can be accommodated in a smaller, loving, and safe environment. The methods that I have been exposed to at TLE are now being presented at the University as modern. Educators agree that they are the most effective learning strategies for nontraditional learners.  My goal is to give TLE students the same enjoyable and effective experience that I was blessed to receive."

Meet Our Awesome Science Lab Teacher and Administrator: Mrs. Lesli Chapman

"When we enrolled our daughter at TLE we were looking for an environment where she could not only continue her education beyond our home school, but be encouraged in her growth as a unique child of God.  The Ahlbergs were up for the challenge!  Little did we know that I would get to pursue some of my own interests here as well.  I have a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Memphis and am delighted to have the opportunity to share my love of science in the Lab.  When I take off my goggles you will find me in Mr. John’s office practicing my organizational skills."
